Microgrid is put forward to coordinate contradiction between the large power grid and distributed generation.From the viewpoint of system,microgrid is a controllable unit that supplies power to consumers on the combination of microsources,loads,energy storage equipments and control devices.However,there are also problems such as frequency and voltage stability,power quality and the impact on the main network.The Energy storage technology's development and application have provided one kind of new beneficial possibility for the problem solving.Therefore,the concept of a new Electric Power Energy Buffer(abb.EPEB) is presented in this paper.Electric Power Energy Buffer is an integrative system based on the supercapacitors and batteries as well as the power electronic devices.It provides or absorbs a lot of energy to the power system owing to its prominent characteristics to supply or absorb high-power in a short period of time.The topological structure and principle of EPEB are presented in this paper corresponding with the modeling of it.The results of simulation indicate that EPEB can improve the system stability and power quality.
