Microbial fuel cell(MFC) contains both the power generation and the wastewater treatment functions,which is of great significance for the energy use and renewable.At present, it are studied from different angles and used different means to find affect the performance of MFC power factors,with a view to continuously improve its generation capacity.In this study,the activated sludge and the sewage from the primary sedimentation tank and the secondary sedimentation tank in the wastewatcr treatment plant as the experimental materials,were used to consist of the environment of the anode chamber of MFC.Moreover, the cultivation of anaerobic bacteria activity,the mixing ratio of anaerobic activatcd sludge and sewage from secondary sedimentation tank,the changing of pH range,the size and the dosage of biological activated carbon added,and the construction of single-chamber MFC etc,were considered to research the performance of power generation and the effect of wastewater treatment of MFC.For the double chamber MFC,through a series of experiments,it is found that:MFC with adequate nutrition and the ratio of sludge and sewage being 1:2,if the pH range is 7.0~7.5 and the dosage of small activated charcoal are 300mg/L,has a higher power generation performance,which the highest output power density is 1540mW/m~3 and COD removal rate rcachs over 80%.For the MFC with the high-dose activated charcoal,the COD removal reachs 90%,but the output power density is very low,with the maximum dosage of activated carbon being 750mg/L,the output power density is only 302mW/m~3.The single chamber MFC was constructed on the base of the double chamber MFC.The memberanc being used or unused between the anode chamber and the cathode chamber was studyed by experiment.The highest output power density of the MFC with membrane is 800mW/m~3.MFC without the memberanc has a poor stability.When the output voltage reaches 300mV,it has a sharp fall in the value,and the continuous discharging timc about 43h.
