Friction is a familiar physical phenomenon which has a nonlinear characteristic and can not be neglected, and exists almost mechanical systems.Friction has been studied detailedly in tribology, but still has some problems which are not solved in mechanical systems. Many friction phenomena and models have been found with several hundred friction research.Though there are many macroscopical models in tribology,in most mechanical systems people still use traditional Coulomb Model. But people had found there were some problems in numerical researches when Coulomb Model was used.So this article almost discuss that if we can find another friction model which can replace the Coulomb Model. And introduces several familiar friction phenomena and models, and analyses their characteristics. Find that the Dahl Model could replace the Coulomb Model most probably. This article predigests some different mechanical system models using Coulomb Model and Dahl model. The main research work covers the following aspects:1) When there is not a static friction in the whole moving course of the body, the efficiency is higher using Coulomb Model than Dahl Model.2) When there are several bodies which influence and restrict each other, the efficiency of Dahl Model is higher than that of Coulomb Model.3) Though Dahl Model conquers some disadvantages of Coulomb Model,it also exists some flaws. So it need to be studied further.
