Many poems have been written to praise the ancient bridges. "Anji Bridge", wrote by a man lived in Song dynasty, was one of those poems. If the poet could come to us along the time river, what will he say when he is in front of the concrete-filled steel tubular arch bridges? With the development of science and the progress of technology, men are making breakthroughs each day. As the hinge of the transportation, bridges with the style of long-span and the structure of concrete-filled steel have experienced a great development in china in recent years. On the other hand, the longer the span is and the more complicated the structure is, the more important the structural is. As for the long-span concrete-filled steel arch bridge, the study of earthquake-resistant has the importance of not only social but also economic significance. Viscous damper, as an effective earthquake-resistant device, was introduced to the bridge system. It has been proved to be effective by the application of many bridges.ANSYS software has been the pioneer in the application of finite element methods to solve the engineering design problem. This paper takes the Fujian Putian Kuokou Bridge for prototype, and takes the usage of ANSYS software to analyze its seismic performance. Following jobs have been done.First, a finite element model of the bridge was built and its dynamic characteristics were analyzed by using the ANSYS software.Second, the bridge's seismic performance was analyzed by applying the theory of response spectrum.Third, the big mass theory was introduced and was verified by being compared with the theory of arch foot fixation.Fourth, the viscous damper's location and parameters was analyzed and the parameters' numerical range was given.
