Reinforced concrete frame structure is one of the structural forms widely used in modern architecture because of the advantages such as good integrity, lightweight, easy construction and so on. Frame structure is particularly suited to office buildings, school buildings, public and commercial buildings, libraries, light industrial plants, apartments and residential buildings. Frame structure is a system made up of the main load-bearing components of beams and columns. If the columns or beams are damaged to some extent, the security and various normal functional uses of the structure will be influenced seriously. With the development of society, it is commonly concerned of making the full use of the structural space. For this reason, the parking lots are often devised and generally located at the bottom of the structure in supermarkets and other common sites. Hence the bottom columns are inevitably attacked by the moving cars sometimes. Since the bottom columns are very important elements for bearing the whole structure, the consequences will be destructive if they were damaged. It is assumed in this article that a bottom column bears a sudden impact and the nonlinear dynamic response of the structure is considered. The researches will be divided into two aspects according to the load properties, one with different impact peak and the other with different impact duration. Every aspect uses three types of impact load modes. The structure analysis under each load mode is simulated by the software SAP2000 and the general rules of nonlinear dynamic response of the frame structure are summarized by comparing the numerical results. By the comparison of top displacement changes for the structure before and after the impact loads, the degradation trends of stiffness for the structure are illustrated. The results have shown that the structural response have the features of weak transitivity and local destruction. The main distortion of the structure is the vertical deformation of the elements above the impacted column, often accompanied by the collapse of some components.
