Carbon fiber reinforced plastic ( CFRP ) has been used widely in strengthening of concrete structure as a new material. But the character of high strength in CFRP can't fully exert with general strengthening method. The theses introduces current strengthening technology and summarizes the application and development of carbon fiber reinforced plastic, discuss the advantages and disadvantages of repairing and strengthening reinforced concrete structure using carbon fiber reinforced plastic, and puts forward the thought that the disadvantages can be overcome by prestressing technology. Calculations in theory are done for the beams strengthening with prestressed CFRP sheets in this paper base on the present experimental results. First, in the thesis particular emphasis is placed on investigating the distributing of the interfacial stresses along CFRP sheet-concrete bond surface after release of the prestressed CFRP sheet ends in concrete beams strengthened by CFRP sheet prestressing technique and the reinforced beam under the function of distributing load; Secondly, base on the assumption of plane section, non-bonding slip and non-peeled destroy, calculation formula of flexural capacity to reinforced concrete beams strengthened with prestressed CFRP are proposed, the effect of load history is taken into account; Lastly, calculation the dosage of the CFRP to reinforced concrete beams, and the best prestressed level are proposed. The method and formula confirmed by those results of calculation in theory are in good agreement with the experimental results.
