Strengthening reinforced concrete structures with carbon fiber reinforced polymer(CFRP) composites is a new structure strengthening method. CFRP has found wide applications in the field of strengthening of concrete structures due to its remarkable features such as high strength ,light weight, high efficiency and convenient construction. Despite late start in 1996 in our country, its development is quite fast. The research and engineering application mostly based on aspects of sheet material , fiber material and plate material. At present, the projects in China are based on the《Technical specification for strengthening concrete structures with carbon fiber reinforced polymer laminate》and《Design Code for strengthening concrete structures》. Many designers were directly use the formulas to calculate and neglect some restrictive conditions,they considered that strengthening reinforced concrete structures with CFRP composites is omnipotent.This article analyzes the performances and formulas of carbon fiber and finds that the ratio of tensile reinforcement is a important influencing factor of structure strengthening by carbon fiber. In addition , a program is designed. The program can solve these problems: calculate of the flexural strength and bear strength of strengthening RC beams with CFRP, calculate of the bear strength of strengthening RC poles with CFRP. From the view of the software design, the program is compiled by the visual basic, it can provide the consumers a friendly interface and make the operation easy and consise.
