The project of widened road have been become new topic in engineering filed in the last few years, For the unprecedent speed developed in economic of our country, interarea's economic corporation become increacingly close, the traffic flows in the high way also increase rapidly, so, It's imperative to widen the exiting highways. But the research involving of controlling and predicting the differential settlement in the project of widened road is not perfect enough. Moreover, the theory of moisture migration has been a hot subject in rock engineering field. It's very meaningful to use the moisture migration theory of the unsaturated soils to solve the engineering reality. Because some engineering problems such as landslide, foundation collapsing , roadbed deformation , which is initiated by moisture migration happened some times. However, for the limited factor of experimental conditions and so on, the research should be further studied.This paper combinat with round-the city high way project of widened road in the western Zheng-Zhou city of He-Nan province and systematically research on the moisture migration regularity of the silt soil packing in embankment. Firstly, Obtain the main experiment parameters by related experiment. Then use the equipment measured suction indoors to get unsaturated silt soil's SWCC and fit the curve with BOLTZMANN model in ORIGIN sofeware to comparative analysis and acquire the formation of silt soil's SWCC involving dry density. Secondly, designed the experiment for studying the relationship between one-dimensional compacted soil column moisture migration regularity and degree of compaction, initial water content and different boundary conditions. Meanwhiles, design the easy experimental equipment to discuss the seepage velocity and capillary water rising rate of the column in different degree compacting. Further more, in the basic of dry- wet cycle experiment, focuses on the effect of the deformation, moisture redistribution, shear strength and ultimate bearing capacity caused by dry-wet cycle process. Finally, analysis differential settlement formation mechanism of the embankment in the widened road project, and combinat GEO-STUDIO sofeware to construct 2D FEM model of the widened embankment, and discuss moisture migration regularity of the widened embankment in the state of nature by the method of numerical simulation and the regularity of formation and development of the differential settlement formation caused by moisture migration.
