HyperWorks soft and MSC CAE soft are used to analyze the strength,stiffness and fatigue character of a light truck cab.The performance of the original structure is assessed,and the light-weight optimization scheme is confirmed.The thesis contents the following aspects.Firstly,the whole finite element model of the light truck cab and frame is built, and displacement and load boundary condition are confirmed.The strength and stiffness contour of the cab are obtained under bending and torsion condition,which indicate the maximal stress and displacement is allowable.The cab has much potential to optimize the weight and geometrical appearance.Combining the unit load response and simulated displacement load history,the fatigue performance of the cab is predicted.Matlab/Simulink is applied to simulate the load spectrum,which is used as the input signal of the tire-suspension model.The response of the tire-suspension model is the displacement spectrum loaded on the cab.The minimal fatigue life is 45100 kilometers,which can satisfy the thirty thousand kilometers test.The light-weight optimization is carried out based on the requirement of strength, stiffness and fatigue performance.The purpose of light-weight optimization is achieved thought optimizing the thickness and reshaping the appearance of different parts.The optimized model has the same level stress,stiffness and fatigue performance.The light optimization rules are practical and can be used to guide production design.The application of CAE technology can shorten the design period and reduce the design expense,which may play an important part in the forepart design of new production.
