Deck ship for heavy cargo is a special vessel compare with traditional cargo transportation which has a large loading deck for some special oversized and heavy cargo (such as platform module,large equipment,quayside container crane). Some of them can be driven by themselves or not. The common trait of the deck ship is the large block coefficient, the small ratio of L and B, the lower requirement for speed and the higher requirement for load capability. Deck ship has a relatively fixed structure, which generally not more complex linear, so it is feasible to apply parametric design technology to the design of this ship.During the design of deck ship, AutoCAD is software with powerful graphics rendering functions. However, it is not specially designed for the structural design of the ship, so there are still some problems when directly applying it to engineering design of the ship structure. Small change of the profile will lead to a corresponding change in the structure; these changes required modifying bit by bit and time-consuming. In order to make better use of it to the structural design of ship, re-development based on the software must be carried out to complete the parametric design of ship structural plan.At present, ship structure design is based on the beam theory and large amounts of empirical formulas. So the limitations and disadvantages also exist. With the loading requirement of heavy cargo, the hull dimension added increasingly, the ratio of the main dimension are exceed the rules requirement, the emergence of special structure style, the exploration of the new ship. So the finite element analysis to the large vessel and new ship is very necessary.The re-development on the AutoCAD's platform realizes the ship structure's parametric design. And the author have understood the AutoCAD ActiveX technology and the AutoCAD object model as well as the commonly used step of developing application procedure with VBA, and realized the structure parametric design of deck ship in the AutoCAD2004 platform through the compilation of massive procedures, realized the ship structure's dimension control, completed the automatic plan and output of drawings. Then the structure drawing created by the program was induct the MSC.Patran/Nastran software to carry on the finite element analysis, completed the appraisal and the examination to judge the structural design to be whether reasonable, whether the yielding and buckling strength satisfy the code requirement.
