Switches allocation in distribution network is an important part of distribution network programing. The reliability of the system can be improved and enormous economic & social benefits can be got by the optimal allocation of switching devices. The placement model of optimal switching devices(POSD) is formulated as a combinatorial constrained optimization problem with a non-linear,non-differentiable objective function,This paper uses bacterial colony chemotaxis(BCC) optimization algorithm to solve optimal switching devices problem, The system operating costs and investment costs of power loss and minimum objective function. The POSD is established based on minimum sum of investment and interruption cost.Reference axes are Switch the location of different configurations,All of bacterial values for every space position forms initial matrix in the placement model of optimal switching devices.Bacterium finds its foraging way for whole search ability by bacteria's searching strategy rule.Convergence speed is improved by optimal initialized parameter. The test on RBTS-BUS6 and another practical feeder show that the proposed algorithm is accurate for POSD and suitable for the optimization of switching devices.
