The current lead which connect with the power and superconducting equipment is very important for the stable and economical operation of cooling system.This paper analyses the domestic and international research actuality in the current lead field,introduces some effective optimal calculation methods for different cooling mode,and summarizes the optimization design elements of binary HTS current lead.At meanwhile,Tan optimal design and application of current lead with varying cross-section is proposed.In this design,two kinds of current leads are given by using finite element method and improved segment algorithm under the condition of conduction cooling and gas cooling.Finally,the experiments results validate the proposed optimal design method of current lead with varying cross-section and some summaries and prospects are present.
