With gradual implementation of Northwest 750 kV planning power grid's construction scheme, there will be long-distance transmission lines with extra-high voltage and high capacity. And geomagnetically induced currents(GICs) will flow in power grids due to geomagnetic storms, which will undoubtedly threaten safe and stable operation of power systems. It is of significance to know comprehensively GIC in Northwest 750kV planning power grid so as to help the power grid stand through severe geomagnetic disturbances and ensure its safety and stability. In this thesis, according to GIC continuity mechanism in power grids with combination of research achievements at home and abroad, effect factors on GIC in power grids and power parameters'selection are investigated, geoelectric field algorithm of regions in mid-low latitudes is proposed, then earth conductivity and power grid models are established. At the end of the thesis, GIC estimation results of Northwest 750kV planning power grid are given by using simulation tool MatLab.
