On the basis of a short summary of the procession of cognitive expensive soils,overview the shear strength theory of expensive soils and the obtain method of shear strength indices.Discuss the detail of the large direct shear test and back calculation method,and have an research in this field. Use the test data of shear test,the author have research about the expensive soils strength quality of Simashan Chuhe floodway,establish the relation between shear strength indices and water content, the relation between cold shear strength and soil mass shear strength.In the end,author appraise the stabilize of side slop of Simashan Chuhe floodway channel.The major contents are summarized as following:Introduce the background and operation significance about study this field. On the basis of tntroduce the normal theroy and method,analysis the feasible and applicable about the large direct shear test and back calculation.Have a research about ration and method of large direct shear test.Complete the the large direct shear text and obtain the result. Have a research about back calculation method.The paper have research about how to ascertain the slip plane,and couple with the Simashan Chuhe flood channel's slip,have back calculatiom and obtain the result. The paper did much of indoor test, according to date of the test,established the realtionship about the shear strength indices and water content.From the practice of engineering and use the result of text, make calculation and analyse about the Simashan Chuhe floodway channel's Side slop stable state.Author point the method.Some conclusions and trends in the field of general entropy intelligent evaluation method and its applications to this problems are summarized at the end of the paper.
