As important equipments in power system, transducers play a primary role in power supplying system. With the development of power system, new type electronic transducers have become a hot research, and they have already been accepted by electric power engineers for its attractive characteristics of high accuracy, high reliability and wide bandwidth.This paper researches two types of electronic transducers: passive optical transducer and electronic transducer. Most of passive optical transducers are still in experimental stage. Electronic transducers have already achieved satisfactory results in real applications. The communication interface protocol is studied for electronic transducers. Synchronization of MU is critical to guarantee accuracy and correction action of relays. This paper discusses a new method to sync data among MUs based on IEC61850. New type transducer is applied to practical digital substations.
