The economic dispatch problem including wind farms discussed in this paper considering the characteristic of wind power and the requirements of the economic dispatch. In this paper, we proposed a method based on the nonlinear and non-stationary wind speed series. This new technique for wind speed forecasting is based on Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) and ARMA. Based on the short-term wind speed forecasting, analyze the sample of prediction, a model was presented for the economic dispatch. This model is a multi-objective optimal problem. We transform the multi-objective optimal problem into a single objective optimal problem. Then interactive multi-objective decision-making method and particle swarm optimization (PSO) were used to solve the problem At last, an example of economic dispatch considering grid-connected wind power is provided. MATLAB 6.5 was also used to demonstrate this method. We analyze the results in this example. The simulation results show that the proposal approach is effective and feasible.
