Axial flow pump is a very common mechanical production in our life and it is extremely widely used. Compared with other kinds of pumps, its obvious characters are that specific speed is very high and hydro-head is low with a big flow rate. Beside these, axial flow pump has very high economic benefits and it is suitable to be used in plain, lake, river irrigation & drainage. Axial flow pump as a result of a long R & D cycle, and relatively dependent on experience, are invariably the product of design - test - Design of iterative process, therefore, exploring new design of axial flow pump has important significance.In recent years, with pump design technology matured and the rapid development of the internet, a Web-based design system model has been developed. It uses the integrated form of the key modules, integrated Web technologies, take full advantage of network sharing, integration, collaboration, real-time advantages, will be the speed of axial flow pump a substantial increase in R & D to further shorten the product development cycle, improve the quality of the product design for the axial flow pump to improve the rapid market-oriented strong protection.(1) Microsoft Office Access is used to establish the basic and process databases necessary in pump design. Database is operated through ADO(or DAO) and the corresponding interpolation process is written, and transforing the design information to data is achieved.(2) Blade is designed through using lifting method as Guide vane using flow line method. AutoCAD is used as the secondary development platform, the axial flow pump blades and guide vane plating is achieved.(3) Visual Basic language is used as the language of the secondary development of programming code and Access database is used to dynamic storage data, then according to the needs of system design, some varieties of modules (including parameters calculation module, blades and guide vanes design module, automatic plating module, automatic modeling module etc.) are made and modular design of the axial flow pump is achieved initially.(4) Based on B / S model, using ASP component technology, combined with AutoCAD and VRML plug-in technology, create web sever pages using Dreamweaver, calling the varieties of modules in background, the axial flow pump automatic design of blades and guide vanes, two-dimensional painting and three-dimensional modeling in the Web environment are achieved.Actual practice has proved that, on the design of the system in the Web page, once users enter the necessary design parameters, the system can automatically generate the 3D model and woodmap of the axial flow pump , all of which could be displayed on the page; if users are not satisfied with the results of design, they can go back and return to the process parameters of the interface and change the parameters till get a satisfaction.
