The Hybrid Rocket Propulsion is a focus of attention in rocket propulsion because of its many advantages, such as, safety, good reliability, lower price, adjustable thrust and green environmental protection etc.There are many differences in the measurement of burning rate between solid propellant and solid fuel in the hybrid rocket motor. The solid propellant is consist of fuel mixed with the oxidizer in process and can burn independently. However, solid fuel can burn only when the additional oxidizer is present. Therefore, the regression rate of the solid fuel is affected by many factors, such as, the mass flux and supplying way of the oxidizer, the ignition time order, and so on. So the regression-rate measurement of solid fuel becomes complicated and difficult.The author has made the research of the method to measure the regression rate of the solid fuel. The testing motor, the oxidizer supplying system, the method of data processing have been designed and established. A series of the experiments have been done to investigate the action of factors, such as, the different spraying way of oxidizer, the igniting time, the blowing time, and the mass flux of the oxidizer on the regression rate of the solid fuel.On the basis of the experimental result, the main factors in the measurement of the regression rate of the solid fuel, such as, the material of the throat, the construction of the nozzle, the energy and the moment of ignition, the supplying time of the oxidizer, the blowing time, the working time, and the testing procedure have been determined. The experimental results showed that the testing system, which consist of the testing motor with the diameter 50 micron and the gaseous oxygen as oxidizer, can be used in the measurement of the solid-fuel regression rate.
