Test system usually consists of five parts such as tested object,signal source, measurement circuit,controller,human-computer interface.As a versatile signal source,Arbitrary Waveform Generator(AWG) are widely used in the test system.Modern automatic test system which is based on VXI/PXI bus is composed of modular instruments or equipment.PCI eXtensions for Instrumentation(PXI) bus is the expansion of Compact PCI(CPCI) to instrument/measurement field.The bus system has many advantages,such as good expansibility,low cost,light weight and so on.Therefore,the thesis designs a CPCI-based arbitrary waveform generator.The thesis do the researches by focusing on design and implementation process of AWG..The detailed elaborations are as following:1.Analyzed the development trend of measurement and control system,and according with the user requirement,the whole system scheme is designed.2.In view of that the system requirement needs high waveform storage capacity,the thesis ameliorates Direct Digtial frequency Synthesis(DDS) technology based on in-depth analysis.The ameliorated DDS technology can make the system choose high capacity waveform memory to meet circuit implementation on the basis of ensuring high data speed.3.The thesis accomplishes the component selection and hardware circuit implementation based on considering generality,expansibility and performance -price ratio of the system.4.Field Programmable Gate Array(FPGA) logic is written in terms of system function requirement,which realizes the functions of Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory(SDRAM) controller which can automatically read and write based on mark.5.The thesis writes BIOS driver and application program which can realize the configuration of External Memory Interface(EMIF) and FPGA correct response for Digtial Signal Processor(DSP) interrupt.6.The thesis writes host computer driver and function verified program.7.The thesis completes the system's debug and verification task,by which verifies the realized function and performance.Then,according to practice, the thesis points out the disadvantage in design and proposes ameliorative advices.The testing results confirm that this system which can correctly,stably, reliably generate video signal and arbitrary waveform signal meets user's requirement well,and has good application prospect and practical value.
