Based on construction design project of the Taijiang Bridge which is a transverse arched steel pylon cable-stayed bridge in Sanming County, Fujian, the author computes and analyses the static behavior, dynamic character and stability of the structural system by building up and computing the integrated finite element model with MIDAS/CIVIL 2006, a finite element software.Firstly, the structural deformations, member forces and stresses of the bridge during the construction processes are analyzed following twenty-seven stages. Time -dependent effects on operational performances due to concrete shrinkage and creep are also determined. The effect of structure of finished state under the live load and their combinations are also calculated. Secondly, natural features of vibration and seismic characteristics of structure are studied by the means of the response spectrum analysis and the time history analysis in this thesis. The main factors which influence the stability are also researched on the construction course and finished state. Finally, different presstressing scheme of the vertical cable are studied and optimal one is identified. Furthermore, a detailed three dimentional finite element model of the anchorage zone on the steel tower is developed with ALGOR, a finite element software to study the complex stresses distribution.By summaring the analysis results of static, dynamic and eigenvalue analysis, the overall structural performance of Taijiang bridge are evaluated and analytical method of this kind of bridge are comprehensively understood.
