In this paper, taking the typical landslide with high moisture content in the Maixiu mountain highway project as an object, the occurrence mechanism, stability and treatment technology are discussed systematically and thoroughly on the basis of extensive geological investigation and engineering geological characteristic analysis. Theoretic and numerical analysis methods are both applied in this research. The main results of this paper can be summed up as follows:1. According to the engineering geological investigation, it shows that the strata lithology is complicated and the fault filled with fissure water is especially active. The fissure water overflows on the ground and leads to a large number of marshland area. In addition, the groundwater is also rich in the sliding area. Based on the analyses of the characteristics and deformation of 1~#,2~#,3~#,4~# landslide, the main reasons for landslide and slope disease surface water and ground water are the two main causes of landslide and slope failure. Then the deformation pattern and mechanism of landslide group are comprehensively analyzed.2. The influences of cycles of freezing in winter and thawing in spring andsubgrade filling on 3~# landslide are analyzed with numerical method. The main contents of the analysis include the failure process and deformation developing mechanism. It shows that the interaction of cycles of freezing in winter and thawing in spring and subgrade filling results in the landslide in Maixiu mountain project.3. The influences of water logging in the depression on 4~#landslide are analyzed with numerical method. The failure process and deformation developing mechanism of 4~# landslide are analyzed. It indicates that water table elevation and hydraulic gradient increase result from the plash which is formed on two sides of the subgrade due to the imperfect drainage facilities. As the sliding force increases and the scale of seepage failure starting in front of the slope enlarges, the deformation of the slope is aggravated, thus leading to the 4~# landslide.4. On the basis of studying the factors influencing landslide development, the treatment technologies are discussed. The deformation of landslide in Maixiu mountain decreases remarkably after catchment well that lows the groundwater table and decreases hydraulic gradient and anti-sliding pile that increases the anti-sliding force and reduces the deformation of the subgrade are applied in the project, which indicates these treatments have a positive effect on the stability of the subgrade.
