Abrasive jet has a strong capacity for cutting and plays an irreplaceable role, it is widely used in various industries. In theory, Abrasive jet also has great foreground for cleaning . Swirling jet has a strong-diffusibility and a large impact area. So we have studyed swirling abrasive jet for cleaning applications in this paper.It takes a numerical simulation to the abrasive jet under the conditions of non-submerged. The numerical simulation adopts the standard k ?εturbulent viscosity model and Mixture multi-phase equations Mixture. It obtains the effects to jet which are from swirling jet nozzle velocity distribution and the the nozzle structure under the conditions of non-submerged. And these effects provide a theoretical foundation for choosing cleaning nozzle.General to consider the effect on jet from nozzle shape and nozzle structural parameters,through photographing we evaluate the proliferation of a variety of jet nozzles. It uses the corrosion of steel as the check bar, and take the abrasive water jet cleaning experiment.It shows that the effect rules on clean efficiency from the nozzle exit length,Standoff distance,impeller length,impeller oriented angle etc. obtaining scope of application of presures of the Swirling abrasive water jet cleaning surface is 1.5MPa~8 Mpa.The experiment compares the clean effects of the swirling jet nozzle,to the other nozzle,and it shows that the cleaning efficiency of the swirling abrasive jet nozzle is over 10 times higher than the of other jet nozzle. By analyzing the theory and applications of abrasive wate jet, it summarizes the relationship between system parameters and hydraulic parameters,and builds up the matching principle of abrasive water jet cleaning system. It compiles"abrasive water jet cleaning system parameters matching"software by the use of VB. It calculates some important parameters including nozzle exit jet velocity,abrasive tank upstream pipe pressure drop,and pump pressure. By means of analyzing the software calculation results it can optimize every hardware and hydraulic parameters in the cleaning system and perfect the design of abrasive water jet cleaning system.
