In recent years, The large-scale open-ended steel pipe piles have been more and more widely applied in large scale deep water docks,Sea-Crossing Bridge Projects.There is lack of necessary empirical parameter and empirical formula to confirm the bearing capacity of large-scale open-ended steel pipe piles, so it is difficult to provide evidences for designing the bearing capacity, the bearing capacity of pile foundation should be confirm by test piles projects. Little successful experiences about supervising and controlling the test piles projects of large-sized steel pipe piles was used for reference on bad conditions of the open sea area.Through The bad situation,the complex geological condition,the construction controlling requirements combining with the characters of Third Phase of the test piles projects of Yangshan of large-sized steel pipe piles, crucial countermeasures for the construction and experimentation controlling were put forward by system analysis and scheme, which made sure the consummation of Third Phase of the test piles projects of large-sized steel pipe piles.How to ensure the bearing mechanism and bearing capacity of large-scale open-ended steel pipe piles were researched in this article, which based on the consummation of third Phase of the test piles projects of large-sized steel pipe piles and combined with the references of canonical and similar the test piles projects. The empirical formula which calculates the ultimate bearing capacity of large-scale open-ended steel pipe piles was found. The ultimate bearing capacity of large-scale open-ended steel pipe piles, which was calculated by the empirical formula in this article, was 0~15% smaller than measured value, when it was calculated by the construction pile foundation canonical formula which adoptedλs andλp when the biggest pile diameter is 1000mm without considering the discount of the soil squeezing effect coefficient and the plugging effect coefficient of open-ended steel pipe pile when pile diameter increasing, it was about 15% smaller than the value which was calculated by the empirical formula in this article, the errors were between 15% and 25%. We would analyze post-evaluation of the test piles from two aspects: analysis of jacked in piles and analysis of the high strain dynamic Testing results in subsequent engineering. The results of analysis indicated that engineering jacked in piles and the dynamic Testing results were according with the conclusion.The consummation of third phase of the test piles projects of Yangshan provided the design and construction with the credible evidences, guaranteed Smooth Implementation of third phase project. Management experiences and the test piles results of third phase of the test piles projects of Yangshan and the researches for the bearing capacity of large-scale open-ended steel pipe piles in this article could be afforded for similar projects, could be provided as reference when the criterion of pile foundation is edited.
