The ship modularization construction mode is gradually becoming popular as its high efficiency while the technology of welding was developed. In order to exert the efficiency and advantages of this ship construction mode, the block section butts of prefabricated sections are gradually applied the"in-plane welded connection"instead of"step joint", particularly in the commercial ship construction. The objective of this paper is to provide structural fatigue analysis and ultimate loads calculation of stiffened plate, which is the classical configuration of ship hull. Emphasis is given to better understanding of strength level with different butt type and jointing technology. The main contents are as follows:1) The ultimate tension, bending and compress load capability was calculated by non-linear analysis software ABAQUS in this paper.2) 3-D finite element model of welding structure is calculated by Nastran to obtain the structural stress distribution under the tension and bending correspondingly. According to S-N curves in CCS rules, the fatigue strength of welding structures can be predicted by hot spot stress method. 3) Based on fatigue accumulating damage concept of hot spot stress and notch stress S-N curves, this paper discuss the fatigue strength and life of naval block-assembly joint with two different butt-welding distribution.
