Ship resistance in waves has direct relation with economical factor of a ship and is getting more and more emphasis in ship exploitation. With the maturity of calm water resistance prediction, the analysis and prediction of a ship's resistance in waves have become one direction of CFD application. Earlier strip theory and potential theory cannot give the fully satisfying analysis and prediction results.This paper attempts to generate numerical waves to realize the simulation of a simple wedge model's resistance in waves by solving Euler equation combined VOF method in Fluent. Effect of the proposed method is validated through comparison of numerical and experimental results of the wedge model in four conditions: fixed model without velocity, fixed model with velocity, free model without velocity, and free model with velocity. This paper provides a reference method of analysis and prediction of resistance in waves and precious experimental validations.
