The performance of grounding resistance will directly affect the stable operation of power systems and safety of equipment and person. Accurate measurement of the grounding resistance means a lot to the protection of electricity equipment and personal safety. This article presents the development of a different-frequency grounding resistance tester and do some research on the characteristic of impulse grouding resistance .Firstly, the common measurement methods of grounding resistance and the problems that exist in these traditional methods were introduced. Then leads to the different-frequency measurement methods. The paper present the HYJC3000 different-frequency grounding resistance tester which was co operant developed by Hunan Electric Power Research Institute.Secondly, the basic concept and significance about grounding and impulse grounding are given, then this chapter analyses developing status of research impulse grounding and educes significance of this research from existent problem at present.Finally, The impulse model of simple grounding net are established by using simulation method, the model consider in the spark effect and the inductive coupling effect when the lighting current afflux into the ground. The characteristic of the impulse grounding resistance under different conditions are discussed.
