Recent years, it appears a new digital close-range photogrammetry system called Image Total Station System. There are two CCD cameras inside the image total station, which can realize real 'no-touch measurement'. The essay studies the constitution of system and work mode, also its basic theory. It also analyzes the principal of software PI-Calib for camera calibration, which is a part of Image Total Station System. Through experiment, I find some its shortages, and put forward a new camera calibration method based on LCD. That makes the work more convenient and faster. I carry on some close-distance and long-distance experiments. Through analyzing the data, it sums up the model precision created by the Image Total Station System and put forward the estimated formula. Finally, it discusses the system's applications on water conservancy, square measurement, cultural protection and building modeling.
