For a long time, the main crack forms of our country are reflection cracks of semi-rigid base asphalt pavement and shrink cracks induced by the season temperature. However, with the development of the new structure - design theory for asphalt pavement, many flexible base asphalt pavements and permanent pavements are adopted practically. But the new structures in use,the news problems appear.People have discovered from the flexible base asphalt pavements and permanent pavements used in the USA and the Europe that the pavement crack happened merely by reflection crack but of top-down crack aroused by the traffic load,it mainly occurred in the edge of the tyre trace. In addition, the temperature shrinkage cracks to the surface cracking pavement structure, After traveling to the repeated loads under exacerbated the downward expansion cracks, it is also more and more people paying attention to.This paper from the mechanical approach to the asphalt pavement under traffic load from the crack down on the form. The article is divided into a total of three parts, each corresponding to the use of finite element software theory. The first part sets out all possible forms of the load, which led to the pavement cracking. With the use of Franc2D,the stress intensity factor with the crack depth had been calculated. Discussion on the form of each load can be derived from the stress intensity factor type, and structural and material parameters on the stress intensity factor of size. The second part has chosen representative form of a load mentioned in previous chapter. Franc2D calculates the theoretical conditions of fatigue life, then find the law between fatigue life and the pavement structure model parameters, find the relationship between the stress intensity factor and fatigue life, providing a reference design theory of the road structure design. The third part is the sublimation of the first part which based on static analysis that research on the vibration response of the road structure under dynamic load and the relationship between the pavement natural frequencies and the traffic load frequencies. It can be used to reduce the traffic disturbance which can lead to the pavement cracks. Therefore this part of the research and practical load of the road has a good correlation. The three sections form the main part of the pavement-crackingarticle.
