The ramjet which is one of the best propulsion system for missiles, with better flight performance than rocket and turbine engine in the supersonic flight area. So, it has broad Military and commercial background and is the significant research field of all country. As the key part of the ramjet the combustion chamber plays an important role in remjat propulsion system. The flame holders always are the Key Problem in the design and research of combustion chamber. The properties of the dump and cavity and V-gutter flame holder using in the combustor in ramjet was studied by both numerical simulation and experiment methods.A reasonable mathematic model about the physical phenomenon in the combustor was given to simulate the combustion and flow process in the combustors. The ramjet using the dump or cavity or single V-gutter flame holder was studied by integrative simulation in the cold flow and the flow field in combustor and the total pressure drop. The results suggest their flow field structures are similar.Based on integrative simulation, detail structural parameter optimization of cavity and double V-gutter were carried out. The results suggest that: for the cavity flame holder, the combustion efficiency and total pressure loss exhibit different trend when the length and slope angle of the rare wall is changed. The increase of cavity length is favorable for increasing the integrated performance in a certain extant, and there is an optimal length. And the configuration with slope angle of 45 degree shows excellent comprehensive performance. The increase of height difference between forward and rare wall will increase of L/D benefits the combustion efficiency, and decrease the total pressure loss. As to the double V-gutter flame holder, the injection position and the relative position of two flame holder(Rl,R2), there is an optimal value that bring the best performance.The connected pipe experiment of high altitude is put in practice. Different mode of injection, different injection pressure drop and different configuration of flame holder were investigated in order to examine the combustion efficiency and flame holding performance. The results suggest that the combination ignition under low pressure can be achieved.
