This dissertation proposes a selecting method for primary and secondary dampers of rail vehicles. According to the vehicle parameters of some DMU, the designing process is introduced, including damping selecting, damping parts setting and damper samples manufacturing.Firstly, Three typical rail input are simulated in Matlab. The sine rail input is to select damping coefficient from controlling syntony. The step rail input is to select damping coefficient from attenuating peak vibration. The random rail input is to simulate the real running condition.Secondly, the DMU vehicle parameters are simplified to dual-mass model parameters. The vehicle model is established in Matlab and the three rail inputs above are the vehicle's inputs. Function parameter method is applied to evaluate vehicle performance. Different running conditions including loads, exciting frequency, vehicle velocity and rail irregularity are simulated. According to the simulation results, the preferential range of the damper damping coefficients is selected.Finally, the samples of the DMU's dampers are manufactured in a rail damper factory. The detail of the damping setting process is expatiated and the test of sample dampers is introduced.
