Steel tubes which are the further machined metal products are widely used in petroleum, chemical and architecture industry. Recently, with the rapid development in domestic industry and energy economy, the foundation investment of energy sources and traffic is improved correspondingly, and more steel tube manufactory appear in china, and the higher demand for the non-destructive testing device of steel tube is proposed. Therefore, it is very important to design the high speed magnetic flux leakage testing equipment and technology.After the compare and analyse of the testing projects at home and abroad, several solutions with the idea of omnidirectional testing are put forward. According to their characteristics and situation of application, and in view of the situation of our country now, the form of"Rotating tube technique (fixed magnets and magnetic transducer with helical movements of the tube)"is chosen.The transverse and longitudinal magnetizers are designed in theory and mechanical design. As the size of the steel tubes detected varies often, the testing equipment with flexible adjustment function is designed. When the steel tube size changed, the testing machine can hoist, and the horizontal probe can be set correspondingly. The transverse probe is designed to be zonary, just like the longitudinal one, so they are uniform, and the workload is reduced. The clamping and righting device based on magnetic levitation force is designed. With the help of this device, the steel tubes can move helically and stably. In addition, the process flow is introduced detailedly.According to the different requirements, the suitable testing probe is designed and chosen. In addition,the method of setting with the artificial equivalent comparisons and make of the standard flaw is introduced. Three kinds of structure of probe tracking system are designed, which can ensure the invariance of distance between probe and tube. At last, a pilot study for the technology of probe is made.
