The characteristics of the flow, especially wake flow and the flow near the appendage around a submarine have a direct effect on the hydrodynamic performance of the submarine. An effective numerical simulation method to predict the characteristics of the flow is a research problem which is very important in the ship hydrodynamics.The flow over a revolution body is a classical problem in the CFD. CFX5.6, a kind of CFD software, is adopted to build graphical models, pre-process and post-process for submarine model. The finite volume method, a kind of computational method frequently used in CFD, is adopted to simulate the three dimension viscous flow over the SUBOFF-8model which is provided by DARPA.Then, we simulate the three-dimensional viscous flow over the SUBOFF-8 submarine model with full appendages. The flow data including the speed field data and the pressure field data is placed in the paper and analyzed to obtain a conclusion.The paper is of great importance to the drag reduction of the submarine. It has great practical value in where to place the propeller.
