Influence Of Dust Corrosion On Property Of Electrical Contact Materials In Common Usage

The science of Electric contact is a interdisciplinary science including electronics, chemistry, materials science. Through numerous analysis of the failure contact, the main factors are materials, manufacture, environmental pollution and so on. The environmental pollution is very serious in China, and the contact surfaces are usually exposed in atmosphere, so environmental pollution is one of primary reasons that cause the failure of electric contacts.The previous study of our research lab of electric contacts shows that a mass of corrosion contamination was found on the electric contact surfaces and dust often goes with it. The salt that exists in the dust particles is the inherent factor of the corrosion. Relative humidity is important to dust corrosion process. The solubility of the salt determines ions' concentration in water-soluble electrolyte, which affect degree of corrosion. And also the temperature variety places an important role in corrosion. So it's necessary to study the influence of dust corrosion on performance of electrical contact materials in common usage by the experiment of dust samples' corrosion on electrical contact materials in common usage.In this thesis, the experiments for corrosion behavior of electrical contact materials in common usage: gold plating sample,nickel plating sample,copper sample by artificial dust anhydrous sodium sulfate and calcium carbonate were carried out under specified temperature and humidity conditions.
