Energy-saving and environmental protection is an objective requirement for the development of today's society. As a green light source, LED is rapid developed in all walks of life in recent years. LED lighting-driven power becomes the focus of attention. Typically, according to conditions, demands and functions, the type of drive power are varied. The research object in this paper is high-current series-connected LED lamps. Therefore, a high output current and large power supply with off-line (AC-DC) switching is needed. At the same time, in order to achieve the advantages of LED energy-saving, high power conversion efficiency is also required. For this reason, this paper designs a high-efficiency LED lights powered switching power supply with an active-clamp forward topology. This topology can achieve zero-voltage soft-switching operation mode, reducing the loss of switching devices. At the same time, in order to design a high efficiency LED lamp drive power, this paper also uses a compact, high efficiency, low electromagnetic radiation planar transformer to improve the efficiency subsidiary.Firstly, this paper analyzes the LED light source with a variety of connections, driving method and determines to make use of active-clamp forward-type topology for the design. Secondly, on the basis of the analysis of the active-clamp forward converter, the main circuit power supply, control circuit and feedback circuit are designed. Meanwhile, the parameters of the circuit are calculated. Thirdly, with the usage of PSpice circuit simulation software, the device modeling, open-loop, closed-loop and perturbation simulation are given, and it is determined that the design of the power supply circuit is feasibility by the simulation analysis of the circuit. Finally, the PCB board is produced and the test of the board has been done. Through a lot of test in the prototype, the results show that the power supply can basically meet the design requirements. At the same time, the method in this paper indicates that the active clamp forward topology can effectively improve the power efficiency.
