Energy conservation by improving the utilization efficiency of unrenewable energy resource is a feasible and effective solution for energy and environment sustainable development at present. Combustion engine is one of heat engines wildly used in China. The thermodynamic analysis and optimization of working situation in combustion engine is significant for understanding it better in theory and for improving its performance through optimally designing a combustion engine in practice.On the basis of understanding and summarizing the current research fruits, the present dissertation is to analyze and optimize dual cycle by using finite time thermodynamics. After making an thermodynamic model, this research optimized design parameters of various dual cycles and analyze factors which have effect on cycle performance. The object of this article is to make a combination between physics and engineering through study the guiding role of theory research in engineering practice.This article analyzed and optimized the theory cycle of combustion engine: dual cycle. The thermodynamic performance of dual cycle is analyzed in theory and the limit of performance of dual cycle will be found on the basis of objective function including power, efficiency and power density. It will make a guide role in optimization design of combustion engine and in improving performance of dual cycle in theory.In Chapter 2, the simple irreversible dual cycle is analyzed and optimized. Through making an ideal model, the various factors which can effect dual cycle is analyzed, including optimization laws of compression ratio and nonreversibility in cycle performance and optimization consequence.In Chapter 3, a dual cycle model with loss of heat transfer and work fluid with variable specific heat is made. The influence of work fluid with variable specific heat to performance of dual cycle is analyzed by numerical computation.In Chapter 4, optimization performance of regenerative dual cycle is studied. The influence of heat transfer irreversibility, and regenerative loss to cycle performance including power and efficiency is studied through finite time thermodynamic. The research analyzed variation of optimization consequence with above mentioned factors through numberical computation.At last, in Chapter 5, a summation is made. It summed up the main study consequence and main innovation. Also it pointed out the further study orientation.
