With the increasing pollution in drinking water sources, and the continuous improvement of water quality standards, the current conventional technology and ozone, activated carbon, etc. processes can not guarantee the biological safety of drinking water, so it is essential to take a safer and more effective water purification process for water plants. As the third generation water treatment technology, membrane drinking water treatment technology makes the biology safety of drinking water from relative safety to absolute safety. Foreign water purification process has entered the large-scale stage of membrane using, while our large-scale membrane water purification plant has just started, so the construction of large-scale demonstration membrane water treatment project has a constructive significance. The membrane treatment process, as a more complicated production procedure, how to build a reliable automatic control system, has become a strong guarantee for the reliable operation of membrane project.Aiming at many defects in the traditional control system which has been used in membrane water treatment project such as Interface not friendly enough, poor system opening, difficult to maintain, weak ability to transplant, high investment, the author used a personal computer and a PLC to build up a automatic control system and programmed the software to accomplish the control system。The system was integrated with automation technology, computer technology, communications technology and so on, the system is low cost, high reliability, simple operation, easy to maintain.In this paper, concerning to LuJing water plant upgrading and reconstruction project, it has an overall design and system implementation for the automatic control system of water plant UF membrane upgrading and reconstruction. We have detailed analysis and demonstration about Water on the current situation related to the system, membrane separation technology, control systems. Ultimately determine the system's hardware configuration and software functions. Then complete the PLC and compute programming.The project uses PLC control technology, network technology, central control computer monitoring technology, etc., selecting S7-300 series PLC of Germany Siemens, Intouch software of Wonderware, which have formed the control system of UF membrane upgrading and reconstruction project.Through nearly 3 months'installation and commissioning, and about half year's operation after the completion of control system design for this project, the system works stably, all parameters meet the designed requirements, which have made significant economical and social benefits and get users alike.The main outcome of this issue include:analysis about waterworks automatic control system of UF membrane technology; proposed PLC and PC based control system design; and the function of system features real-time monitoring and data transfer and so on can be completed at a lower cost.UF Membrane shortened process is suitable for transforming the old water plant and new water plant, It has a small footprint, good water quality. The UF membrane shortened process successful application of automatic control systems, it also provide some reference for the promotion of technology in other water plants.
