Modern society requires security and stability of the power systems. With increasing complexity and scale of power system, it is difficult to control for power systems. Using advanced control theory is the inevitable trend of stability control for power system. In this paper, adaptive Terminal sliding mode control for generator excitation, governor and FACTS devices will be used in power systems to improve system stability. Simulation results show that the controllers have good performance.The main contents are as follows:(1) Introduce the power system stability and Terminal sliding mode control. Introduce a brief theory for Terminal sliding mode control.(2) Adaptive Terminal sliding mode control theory is studied, which is the theoretical basis for later chapters. An adaptive fast Terminal sliding mode control law is designed for uncertain parameters system. Non-singular adaptive Terminal sliding mode control is designed for a class of uncertain systems. Terminal sliding mode control combined with ADRC is proposed to improve anti-interference ability. Terminal sliding mode control based on adaptive dynamic surface is also proposed to solve the control problem for a class of nonlinear uncertain systems.(3) It is applied to adaptive generator excitation system using Terminal sliding mode control. First of all, Terminal sliding mode adaptive generator excitation control is designed based on a single-machine infinite-bus power system model; and then Terminal sliding mode adaptive robust excitation control law is established in the multi-machine system model based on the COI information.(4) Adaptive Terminal sliding mode control of generator governor is applied. Firstly, Terminal sliding mode controller for Turbine governor system is designed. Then Terminal sliding mode coordinated control for excitation and turbo valve is designed. And Terminal sliding mode controller for multi-machine system valve is designed.(5) Adaptive Terminal sliding mode control for FACTS devices is applied. Firstly, adaptive Terminal sliding mode control for TCSC is designed based on the two-machine system. Then adaptive Terminal sliding mode controller for STATCOM based on the dynamic surface is designed. Finally, Terminal sliding mode controller for the coordination of SVC and generator excitation is designed.Controllers designed in this paper have been the completion of the numerical simulation. The simulation results based on power system model show that the adaptive Terminal sliding mode controller can effectively improve stability of the power system, and inhibit power oscillation.
