Compound planetary gear set (CPGS) is a crucial part in the transmission system of automobile,especially in automatic transmission system. The perfomance of CPGS has an important influence on the automatic transmission system. In the application of the spur CPGS, the washer between planetary gear and the frame was distressed heavily. The experiment result indicated that there was axial force between planetary gear and frame. Therefore, it's significative for the improvement of automatic transmission system to research the axial force of planetary gear in CPGS and lubrication characteristics of its thrust washer.Chapter I , the application background of CPGS was introduced and the background and research significance were discussed. The research situation of axial force of planetary gear in planetary gear set and lubrication characteristics of its thrust washer were summarized. It pointed out the direction for the research. Finally, the main study of this paper was introduced.Chapter II, the generation mechanism of axial force was analysed. The numerical model of axial force was established. The factors which affected the axial force and their effects were analysed.Chapter III, the numerical models of pressure distributing and carrying capacity were established according to the working characteristics of thrust washer. Through the emulational analyse, the judgement method for lubrication state of thrust washer under the influence of axial force was analysed.Chapter IV, the structure and basic function were introduced, especially the crucial technologies. The theory of test for the radial force and axial force of planetary gear was detailed. The test method was described. Finally, the contrast between experiment result and theoretical value was studied.Chapter V, the main results and conclusions of the dissertation were summarized, and the possible research in future was discussed.
