In recent year, the high speed generator driven by micro-turbine which is used for the distributed generation has been paid more and more attention by people. The high speed permanent magnet (HSPM) machine has small size, high speed and power density. Due to the above merits, some new problems appear in the design process of HSPM machine. For HSPM Machine, the rotor speed is normally above 30 000rpm and even exceed 100 000 rpm. Rotor as a key component should meet the mechanical, electromagnetic and rotor dynamic characteristics. With the background, this thesis aims at the rotor of HSPM machine, discusses the design method and the above three properties.Firstly, the structure design of the stator and PM rotor are carried out. The basic sizes are decided. Then the analysis methods of rotor strength, electromagnetic and dynamic characteristics are presented. The three properties of PM rotor are studied. The influence of rotor properties by different rotor and stator structure is analyzed. The regular conclusion for HSPM is obtained.Secondly, the optimized rotor design of HSPM machine based on stress, electromagnetic field and rotor dynamic characteristic is brought forward. By the optimization analysis model of ANSYS, the finite element non-linear contact analysis, transient electromagnetic analysis and rotor modal analysis are coupled indirectly. The correctness of analysis method is proved by experiment. It also showed that the optimized result is creditable indirectly. Finally, aiming at the rotor of 60 000rpm, 100kW HSPM machine. The unbalance magnetic pull (UMP) and mass eccentric centrifugal pull (MECP) are analyzed. The rotor nonlinear unbalance response caused by UMP and MECP is calculated through the analysis method of rotor dynamic response, namely nonlinear NEWMARK implicit integration scheme. Many kinds of locus of rotor center are obtained. The relationship between the rotor oscillation and rotate speed is concluded.
