In consideration of the section rotations of beam, shearing deformation of adjacent cross section and the transverse pressure, a new control equation of deep beams of the rectangular cross section is given in this paper. This paper primarily studied the bending problem of deep beams of the rectangular cross section under different loads with different boundary conditions. This paper applied reciprocal method of work to solve deflection curve equation of deep beams of the rectangular cross section under uniformly distributed load and concentrated load with different boundary conditions. This paper analyzed the results from the calculating examples. This paper includes three parts: some fundamental theories, the calculating and analysis of some examples, experiment verification. In consideration of the section rotations of beam, shearing deformation of adjacent cross section and the transverse pressure, a new control equation of deep beams of the rectangular cross section is given. This paper generalized reciprocal method of work to solve the bending problems of deep beams of the rectangular cross section on the basis of the new equation. The reciprocal method of work for solving the bending problems of deep beams was proved right in theory and application. According to the fictitiously basic solution of deep beams of the rectangular cross section, the problems that the bending of deep beams of the rectangular cross section with different boundary conditions under uniformly distributed load and concentrated load, such as deep beams of the rectangular cross section with two edges simply supported, one edge fixed, the other edge simply supported and two edges fixed were solved applying the reciprocal method of work. When the analysis of these calculating examples was completed, some data and diagrams were acquired and then the data and diagrams were compared with the results from finite-element software ANSYS. This paper designed an experiment that can measure the bending deformation of deep beams of the rectangular cross section with two edges simply supported under a concentrated load. The results from the experiment show that the calculations given are correct.
