Automatic tube catapult devices have been used in many fields such as civilian and weaponry. As the aluminum alloy has many good features of the process, so it has been widely used in the manufacture. The welding technology of aluminum alloy is very important in the entire manufacturing process. Computer Aided Process Planning system of welding can be used to significantly improve the quality and efficiency of process plannin.This article analyzes and summarize the welded joints of the Automatic tube catapult. We design the architecture, function modules and user interface of WCAPP.The system uses Microsoft SQL Server 2000 as a database management system, Visual Basic 6.0 as a development tool, and use Microsoft Windows XP Professional operating system as a development environment. The whole system uses XML describe the tree structure of products' names, and make the mixed-based reasoning modus (including CBR and RBR) to get the process solution. In addition,we use VBA to make a second development, so that realize the welded joint information input, process design, automatic generation, process card output, process management and records management. It provides technical support for the weld production and manufacturing process.For 6mm,10mm and 15mm different thickness,we use high-strength aluminum alloy with butt joints to take the arc welding robot to do some welding experiments. The processes can give us a reasonable standard window, expand the number of reports in the database, optimize and improve the welding system rules. This system has a friendly user interface, so it can be easy to use and maintain. The WCAPP can enhance the level of manufacturing technology and increase the rapid development capabilities.
