The aging of composite insulators are attracting more and more attention. How to evaluate the aging properties of composite insulators in short time by means of experiments is valuable. In this thesis, the influences of corona voltage, aging time and relative humidity on the aging characteristics of HTV silicone rubber have been studied in details based on the orthogonal experiment method. The corona aging tests of HTV silicone rubber have been carried out under varied corona voltage, different aging time and relative humidity. The hydrophobicity, TSC and space charge properties of test samples have been measured, and the test samples was also checked by SEM. As the analysis result of TSC and space charges properties using the variance analysis, it is revealed that the trap level, trap charge quantity could be increased with the raise of corona voltage level and the extension of corona ageing time, the relative humidity has non-significant influence on the TSC and space charge characteristics of HTV silicone rubber. Moreover, the defects on material surface would be increased after the corona aging process, the hydrophobicity could be lost temporarily, and the recovery rate and level of the hydrophobicity depends on the corona aging state of composite insulators.
