Access for the raised concern of large wind farm interconnection stability problems, the paper analyzes small signal stability aspects along with damping characteristics of the modern wind farms. As a research-based, the paper first describes the main three current wind turbine models in detail. Subsequently, linear equations suitable for small signal stability analysis are derived on the basis of Lyapunov stability theory. The paper makes a deep research of characteristic of different types of wind machines. Both frequency and time domain analysis are included concerning the impact of wind output power, short circuit ratio and control mode.i.e. Meanwhile, more focuses have been put on the influence of controller parameters on electro-mechanical modes. In the research of integration of wind machine into power systems, the author considers circumstances of receiving and sending network separately, and makes a comparison of synchronous generator substitution.
