With the construction project of Shenzhen Metro Line 5 as the background, a study is carried out on ground settlements with Mining Method in Water-enriched soil layers of Shenzhen in order to find out the laws of settlement there. The main research contents of this paper are as follows:1. The main influence factors and mechanism of ground settlements with Mining Method is generalized according to reading through a lot of literature.2. On the basis of a large number of engineering geological data, which is from the 19 excavated areas collected with Mining Method, geology conditions of every site are analyzed and summarized.3. With the construction projects of Shenzhen Metro Line 5, history curves of ground settlements, which are drawn based on field monitoring data of surface subsidence, are fitting with Mathematical formula, and then the laws of ground settlements of relevant areas with Mining Method are summarized.4. A typical segment is selected to study the influence of ground settlements, which is caused by the loss of water from the cave when the tunnel is excavating, by using numerical simulation. The relation of the impact between the loss of water and the excavation is found out based on the results above-mentioned. And at the same time, the laws of ground settlements caused by the loss of water from the cave are made clear. The research results are important to the related design and construction in the follow-up subway project in Shenzhen.
