Tunnel Backhoe Loader is one of the most effective devices on excavation and mucking during tunnel construction. Introducing the virtual prototype technique during product design is significant. It can increase the quality of the product, decrease development cycle and enhance the ability of independent research and development. This paper applies the virtual prototype design method to the structure design of working device in the Tunnel Backhoe Loader, and mainly does the following work.Firstly, this paper uses 3-D model software Pro/E to model the working part according to the actual dimension and structure, introduce 3-D geometric model made with Pro/E to MSC.ADAMS, and establish virtual prototype of the working device. By researching the structural features of the working device, you can write the corresponding scripts to simulate its working range, comparing with the initial argument, and then verify the correctness of the mechanism.Secondly, in this thesis we have analyzed two basic conditions of digging and loading operation, calculate its load, verify correctness of the mechanism, and simulate these two kinds of conditions according their motion law. Then during the subsequent processing we get the stress of any joint of the mechanism and driving force of the cylinder, curves of displacement and acceleration change with time, and thus judge if the cylinder overloaded, then guarantee the credibility of the device forcing data. It also analyzes stress condition of two important components of the device, dipper handle and boom, supplying load basis for subsequent static analysis.At last, this thesis also discusses some principles and skills of finite element method, and uses finite element software to analyze dipper handle and boom, establishing finite element model separately. It sets the force curve of dynamic simulation as a prerequisite; select the worst working condition to load, and get stress deformation nephogram directly.Research of this subject provides a new sample for virtual prototype of engineering machinery, and is beneficial to design improvement and product development. It has certain reference value, also provides an idea to solve problem in future.
