With the development of power industry, the demands of power supply security and quality from customers are increased. The economic and security operation problems in power system have been paid more and more attention. How to reduce the network loss, ensure voltage quality and increase reliability of power supply are practical problems that the power department faced. Since the distribution system locates at the terminal of electric system and it connects with the consumers directly, the operation index of power distribution system is the comprehensive reflection to the whole structure and operation characters of the electric power system. Distribution network reconfiguration is the important part of distribution automation system. Through distribution network reconfiguration will fully excavate potential of network and with remarkable economic and social benefits by improving the economic and reliability of system.Distribution network reconfiguration is a complex, nonlinear combinatorial optimization problem.This paper firstly introduces research significance and research actuality of distribution network reconfiguration. After researching kinds of methods for reconfiguration, the advantages and disadvantages and application of these methods are analyzed.Then it discusses especially the technique of the backward/forward iterative algorithm of distribution power calculation.In the same way, it discusses the reliability evaluation algorithm for distribution network based on fault-spreading-method.Then this paper proposes the mathematical model in order to reduce the loss and enhance the reliability of distribution system. And integrated optimization mathematical model tc reduce the loss is proposed based on network reconfiguration and capacitor switching. Then the coding strategy and the update way of particles are improved.And the rules of particle updating are proposed to restrain infeasible solution.Typical examples are simulated through the proposed algorithm The result shows that the method is not only effective but also have high searching efficiency, and it is able to reduce the loss and improve reliability index without additional investment. Comprehensive optimization of distribution network could get more loss reduction and greater improvement of voltage quality.
