The road safety is a major focus of contemporary social issues. Many traffic accidents were exposed by network in recent year. The accident resulted in numerous casualties and huge economic losses to society and incalculable negative impact in material or spiritual was brought to the families of the victims. Safety attracted concern of the community, but also intelligent transportation system to be committed to resolving the major problems. According to the expert studies, the deaths number of traffic accidents was reduced and transport efficiency increased substantially through the intelligent transportation technology to improve road management level.In the intelligent transportation systems, intelligent vehicles as an important research branch received more and more attention. The system of vehicle control is the focus of intelligent vehicle. The control of the intelligent vehicle included speed control and direction control, in which the direction control of intelligent vehicle was particular paid closed attention. To achieve safe driving, following control was executed in the steady traffic follow; changed lanes to overtake may happened on the expressway; avoidance operation was taken on the need in some section there is an obstacle; reasonable control was more need to the vehicle on the bend road. Only these situations were well done, the goal to drive safely on the road could be achieved. The usefulness of intelligent vehicle not only apply to transportation, can also be applied with the fire services and other special operation place needed unmanned, so a lot of manpower was saved and people could avoid working in the condition of danger or harsh environment. We can see if the precise navigation control was achieved, which would be able to help improve the working environment of daily life.In the process of speed control on the condition of driving on road with steady traffic flow, a different driver presented different acceptance to the same safety distance, executed differently even in the same condition, but all in a relatively fixed range. The individual differences were reflected by cloud theory in this paper, and the two-dimensional cloud controller based on cloud reasoning was designed to control the speed of vehicle. At last the safety and flexible following movement is implemented in the condition of stable traffic flow.With the development of map matching technology, intelligent vehicle could combine with the results of map matching to plan driving paths. The steering control when driving on the crossroads or the curved road was studied based on the dynamic target location in front of the vehicle. The cubic curve is taken as the expected route of the charged vehicle based on dynamic target location. The controller is designed through adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system to control the vehicle moving follow the target, at last the simulation was implemented.Finally, potential energy function was made based on artificial potential field theory. The algorithm simulated the driver behavioral characteristics was proposed, the guidance of potential energy function of road boundary impact and dynamic target location. The result of simulation present that the algorithm had better performance and can ideally simulated the road keeping and obstacle avoidance.
