Water pump impeller is the key to fluid pass, whose hydraulic design process is very complex and cumbersome. Currently domestic mainstream CAD systems of two-dimensional hydraulic design are mostly supported by Auto CAD, it can only provide two-dimensional hydraulic model drawing which produce wood model, the drawing can not conduct a intuitive display of the product, and is not conducive to the reconstruction of three-dimensional model and subsequent CNC machining of the impeller, as a result, the system mentioned above can not meet the requirement of blade CAD modeling. So this paper studied digital manufacture technology of centrifugal pump impeller.First, the paper propsed the digitized expression for hydraulic model of the impeller and solving arithmetic for vane surface points of impeller based on hydraulic model, and, developed a model data management system for the impeller and automatic generation system of impeller three-dimensional model based on VB.NET and UG NX, which realized the three-dimensional digital modeling of impeller blades.Seondly, the paper put forward the method for wetted cross section detection of impeller, profile fairness analysis of impeller based on generated three-dimensional model, which availed in discovering problems of two-dimensional hydraulic model of impeller ahead of time and provided the effective means for centrifugal pump impeller'design.Again, this article put forward casting mould CAD method based on three-dimensional model of impeller on the basis of analyzing the existing impeller mold production prccedure, which saved wood mold manufacturing processes in traditional mold manufacturing processes, improved the mold precision and shortened the development cycle for new products.Finally, after studying the NC manufacturing methods for free formsurfaces, the paper put forward a new tool path generation algorithm of impeller CAM, used DMU70ev five-axis special post processor to generate NC maching codes to complete impeller blades CAM, which proposed a new thinking for developing programming software of special NC maching of impellers.It could be indicated by practice that the studing work in the paper improved the quality of impellers, shorten the design, inspection and manufacturing time during impeller manufacturing period, which palyed an important role in rapidly responding market. Meanwhile, the tool path generation algorithm of impeller CAM established firm base for self-developing for programming software of special NC maching of impellers.
