With a beautiful shape, material consumption savings, the structure of high carrying capacity, and big rigidity,steel truss arch bridge has a strong competitive in the highway bridge, railway bridge, the public railway bridge. However, due to the large number of bars of steel truss arch bridge, the studying of bar instability or stiffness of the truss arch bridge is very important for the overall stability of steel truss arch bridge. How to reasonably handle the construction phase and operation phase of stability is the key to ensure the safe operation of the bridge.Basing on the background engineering of the steel truss arch bridge—Chongqing Chaotianmen Yangtze River Bridge engineering, the following studies are involved:①Describes the historical development and current situation of arch and arch stability theory.②Elaborate the theory of finite element analysis of structural stability, analysis the theory and its calculation of structural stability of the type of finite element.③Introduce the design basis of Chaotianmen Yangtze River Bridge experimental model, the principles of calculation and simplified model.④Calculate stability of the experimental model with Midas Civil 6.7.1,based on the stability analysis of the model, propose two important factors of uneven lateral load and lateral stiffness of the bridge affecting the stability of the bridge. Further study the failure of a single pole model of the bridge on the stability, find out the key bar which affects the stability of model bridge, and analysis the affect of changes in the stiffness of the critical pole to the stability of model bridge.
