Induction machine based constant speed wind turbine mathematical model and DFIG based variable speed wind turbine mathematical model are analysed in this paper. Steady characteristic and transient characteristic is simulinked and analysed by the DFIG based wind farm case and the IG based wind farm case. The simulation result shows that it is essential to install dynamic reactive power compensation equipment in the IG based wind farm.This paper build up the controller model of dynamic reactive power compensation implement-STATACOM in MATLAB/Simulink/Powersystem. The method of confirming its parameters is also studied The dynamic reactive power compensation impression of STATCOM is analyzed by the simulation of actual wind farm compared with SVC. The results indicate STATCOM's excellent characteristic such as adjusting speed quickly, extent running region, generating reactive power continuously, being not effected by the system's voltage and so on. STATCOM can improve the transient voltage stability of IG based wind farm and insure the wind-turbine generator running continuously and the security and stabilization of the grid. Finally, low voltage rid through of IG wind farm, DFIG wind farm, VSCF wind farm are discussed.
